I’m sure by now that most of you have watched Andor. But I will still keep the spoilers down as much as I can.
Andor has really been in the forefront of not just the Star Wars news media, but the whole of entertainment media in general. and for good reason. Its just fantastic.

By now everyone has seen or heard reviews and descriptions of this true life side of the Star Universe. Its not a different version or re imagined version of Star Wars, but more like some have said, a prequel to a prequel, that follows just one of the various plots that lead up to A New Hope.
The original Star Wars saga just plopped us into the middle of a story. But we all knew while on Tatooine for the “first time” when Ben Kenobi and Luke are talking of the Rebellion and the Empire, that much more has happened and much more was going on than we were being shown. Since then, almost the entirety of the franchise has been all about filling in what we did not get in 1977.

But nearly all later content has been focused on the dealings of the Jedi and Sith, while the actual main story has been about The Empire’s growth, exploitation, and expansive hold on the galaxy, and the fight against them. That seems to have gotten lost to a good portion of the fans.
Andor and Rogue One (and you can add Solo) for that matter, bring us back to what else was going on in the Galaxy and how it fits with and leads to the whole Skywalker story is just part of the over all bigger story of the Empire. Just as movies like Dunkirk, Pearl Harbor or Enemy at the Gates are in very different places and times, but are still in and about World War 2.

Andor is definitely a different animal than the rest of the Star Wars fare. Slower. But moving churning forward with a slow burn thriller feel. And even though we more or less know what the eventual out come with “most” of the players is, we still get great character building and mystery out of every single one.

I am a bit worried now though. Andor has set a very high bar, maybe to high of a bar, for future offerings. When Andor first hit, the major gripe was that it didn’t look or feel like Star Wars. Now.. I can’t imagine Star Wars being anything but this going forward.
That said.. I can hardly wait for the new Bad Batch, Skeleton Crew, Ashoka and Mandalorian. I doubt they will change to this grittier style,, but other upcoming shows like The Acolyte may.
But most of that is far off yet. So if you have not yet watched Andor, go and watch it. But for now until there is more I’ll have to be passing the time with Wednesday and Willow.
Stay tuned.
