How was 2025?

I guess I should do a recap of 2025. It’s just one of those things. A quick look back and a quick look ahead to what’s to come here at Timelapsed and things that are brewing out in the wilds.

You might have noticed that things have been a bit wobbly here at the Timelapsed offices in the past few months, but I think things are coming back together. So there should be a bit steadier release schedule happening again. But now,, back to the show.

Early 2025 had us looking ahead to new offerings of Superman, Tron, Daredevil, and Andor. And except for Tron, (more on that in a minute) the pay off these entities was no less than amazing.

I guess I was more surprised with Superman. I’m not the biggest Supes fan, but this movie might have moved my interest marker a bit closer to his side. Plus it opened up a bigger part of the new DC universe and characters within that probably must be played sooner than later. And me being much more into DC than Marvel makes it that much better.

But, as far as Marvel goes,, Daredevil Born Again series was just fantastic. Reborn being the key word here. The show is basically the same people, in the same roles, in the same places, but with a completely different feel of the entire franchise.

Not that the first seasons were bad or anything, but they just moved soo sloow. Born Again is definitely still not pure action, but the pacing woes have been corrected. Recommend going back for more Matt Murdock.

I have yet to seen Tron Ares. Not directly because of its poor ratings, but because it fell off the radar so quickly, I honestly completely forgot about it until, well… about 5 minutes ago. But the good (maybe bad) news is that Tron Ares is hitting Disney today! I really want the whole Tron universe to continue,, but from all that I have heard and read,, this is probably not going to be the one to carry it on. But I do have a little hope yet.

The Star Wars’s and Star Trek’s also had a big year in 2025.

Andor season 2, the Star Wars dark gritty, award winning Disney series was everything that it claimed to be.

This series will be talked about for a long time for how good it really was, and hopefully starts a trend of greatness from this franchise. I really need to do a rewatch of this.

Star Trek’s Strange New Worlds, kept the series rolling along with its season 3. While it may have stumbled a bit this season, it is still one of the best Trek series out there.

But we also learned SNW’s fate. Even with the Paramount/CBS fight, sale, split and all, we will still be getting a season 4 and a partial season 5… at least so far. This is just too good of a show to let slip away. But then again, we said that about Prodigy….

2025 also had some fantastic surprise offerings. Shows that were basically unknown, but suddenly became top of the rank must-sees.

The Residence. An 8 episode Netflix comedic detective “drama” that just sorta grabbed everyone’s attention all at once. With such a large cast of well knowns, I’m surprised The Residence flew so far under the radar. Great plot and writing both in mystery and comedy.  Oh I hope there is more to come for Cordelia Cupp.

Kpop Demon Hunters. Wow. I just happen to turn this one on by sheer luck one day I had no idea what I was expecting, and was very close to just backspacing out of it. A girl group of Korean singers are secretly ancient demon hunters in the modern world where things are not as they seem.

Mmmokay. But this “anime” has so many anime tropes its hard to look away.

Not only graphically but the musicly, the soundtrack has taken over everything. Its got albums, theater releases, live concerts..

The unknown Kpop Demon Hunters went from zero to exploding around the world in a matter of days.

Just go take a watch of this one..

2025 also had me returning to not only Gaming, but back to Music and Books. Revisits of classics that for one reason or another, I had gotten away from.

I had “found” bits of my music collections, Cds and Vinyl. But no way to play any of it. But I have since remedied that and have been slowly listening to and rebuilding my stash.

I do have plans to start doing reviews and/or commentaries on these old albums of mine,, some of which will be out sooner than later.

And finally the RPG bug has taken over my gaming again. Old favorites like the Fallouts, The Elder Scrolls and now Baldur’s Gate 3 are what it’s all about. The story driven, choice mattering games have definitely moved in over the faster action oriented types… for now.

2025 was bigger and more packed than I realised. Hopefully it was setting up 2026 to be just as full. I know I have more options in content now.. So stay tuned.
