Gush, ignore, hate

Were are now seven episodes into the 3rd season of Strange New Worlds. There is so much going on with not only the show itself, but the studios, the fans, the reviewers that I better get a mid season post in before I forget everything.

My quick no frills report on season three thus far is that I like it, but things are a bit wonky. The first few episodes sound great on paper, but it feel like the writers just didn’t know how to get there.

I don’t really want to get into too many specifics just yet, as the season is still on going, but alot of this season seems like we are being told a story by someone who can’t quite remember the details, so they make up little bits to fill in the gaps. But those little bits juuuust don’t fit in correctly.

But still, even with the bad the season has been pretty damn good. Which brings me to one of the gripes. The fans and reviewers.

Oh I know fans and Tubers get worked up over stupid things, and over react for numbers sake, and I don’t really care for the most part,, but it starting to be a bit much and thusly making finding a decent place to discuss Trek in any form almost impossible.

For the first half of the season where the majority of the terrible writing and slightly un-Star Trekky things have been, you would think that the Toobers were handing out Academy Awards or something. Everything was glorious.

I don’t think they were even watching the same show as me, with all the Ups and explosively big ratings given, while barely a mention at all of the just plain bad that was on the screen.

Its so fake watching these gushers gush at the stupidest things, yet ignore every elephant in the room.

But now,, when the last two episodes seem to have turned the corner with solid episodes, you would think some one has pulled the rug out from underneath them. Now the show sucks, worst season ever.

I wanna know what these people are watching or taking. The Sehlat Who Ate it’s Tail and What is Starfleet are the most Trekky episodes of Star Trek in years.

But all you see is, “I hated it”

All of this coming at a time with the Paramount and CBS debacle. No one is quite sure how all of that will affect Trek, but mixing that news with the very public fake whinings makes for a bleak looking shakey future for the franchise.

But, that is not for me to decide. And I get people like different things. But hating just to hate or to get clicks is a whole different thing

I for one like the show, like the direction is for now taking, and cannot wait for next weeks episode.

If you have not yet started Strange New Worlds on Paramount+  I’d say get in there now, as it is very good.
