Roadkill

Third book this year already! But we should be getting back to the regularly scheduled hooha shortly. But for now…

The book is Roadkill by Dennis E Taylor. 346 pages, published in 2022.

Wow! It has been a long time, if ever that I had “fun” with a book. Oh I know, I “enjoy” books as much as the next,, but Roadkill was fun.

A regular college kid, Jack, is out on a delivery run and hits something in the road. Its a something because he cannot tell what it is. Because its INVISABLE.

Getting help from two of his friends, Nat and Patrick, they figure out it is an alien of some sort. This leads to a discovery of a planet wide alien takeover. But the three do gain use of the alien’s ship

At first look at the plot it would.seem that Roadkill is perhaps a straightforward 2020 churn. And thats what I was expecting from it. It was on sale, never heard of the author…

But it was completely the opposite. Don’t get me wrong though,, it’s not a Shakespeare or anything, but its got direction. It’s got laughs,, I literally laughed out loud,, alot.

I think it’s the style more than anything that got me. It’s written like how I think everyday. And all of the characters feel like I hang out with them everyday.

The plot admittedly could have been thicker,, and maybe gotten more involved for what it was entailing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and 100% have a new favorite spaceship.

It’s not going to be a bestseller,, but I have to give this my recommendation. 4/5 is overkill,, but I really got into it. Go read Roadkill by Dennis E Taylor today.
