When Ahsoka finally hit the air it was very good times in Star Wars. A series that was dropping at the right time, in the right Star Wars timeline, and promising one hell of a list of characters.

This is my review/commentary of the Ahsoka series that just wrapped up this week. This may be a bit longer than I usually go, but there are many sides of things to look at here. I try to keep spoilers out, but that may be difficult this time around. Be wary.
The Ahsoka series had some big asperations to say the least. Being billed as direct sequels to the likes of The Clone Wars and Rebels, and being transferred to live action from those animated forms really pumped up the anticipation.

And I think that they pulled that off about as good as it could have been done. The castings were spot on and the story seemlessly continued on from those predecessors.
Many call backs and inferences to not only the Clone Wars and Rebels, but to the originals and prequels and even Legends and/or Expanded Universe.

Aksoka really is a fanboy series that just keeps giving those subtle and not so subtle nods, all while pushing forward, filling gaps, and finishing old plots. Oh and visually showing off as well.
The writing and acting were for the most part very strong. A few bumps in that road along with a couple of groaners, but not excessive by any means.
I was genuinly on edge waiting for every weeks episodes to drop. Ahsoka was/is some great Star Wars material.. For the right audience.
And this is where todays format of TV series being only 8 or so episodes affects shows like this which have extremely large back stories and for the most part,, spilling out to a new type of audience.

All of the above praising and gushing for the show is absolutly great for those of us who have watched the animateds, read the books and all the other extracurricular activities… not so much for those who have not.
And there is a big chunk of Star Wars fans who just will not watch the animated series. Those who think that because they are animated that its going to like Bugs Bunny or the Smurfs.
And Ahsoka for the most part ignores that whole group of thier fans. Even the ones that they picked up because of The Mandalorian or even The Book of Boba Fett and Andor.
No real introductions of characters, very little previous plot explanataions,, just.. bloop, here ya go.. hope you figure it out.
But that whole topic is for another day.

All in all 6 of the 8 episodes were fantastic. Action. Mystery. Drama. Magic. The Force. It had everything. But then the last two episodes changed gears. They went hard into set up mode and leaving nearly every plotline they just started, dangling out there in space.
And at the time of writing this, there is no hard, officially announced plans for anything more to come. But as it ended, there really has to be, somewhere.
Whether it is going to be continued in a second season, or maybe continue in the expected Mandalorian movie.. we do not know at this point. But again,, from the ending and what is cannon, there really has to be.

I for one thouroughly enjoyed Ahsoka and even with the very open ending will call this a must see,, and while I’m at it, go watch The Clone Wars and Rebels if you have not yet.
