I have played my share of Overwatch since it came out. It was one of, if not the first games I picked up for my Playstation 4.
While I was by that time, a PC player, I did put my console time into this game before picking up the PC version.
Never was major force in Overwatch, but I could definitely hold their own. Went thru the character swap phases, but always liked Torbjorn, Soldier 76, Baptiste, and Zenyatta.

But lets face it. Overwatch 1 was really getting a bit boring. Same maps over and over and over and over.
I, and I think just about every other player out there couldn’t wait for Overwatch 2, or something.. anything, to drop.
And it finally did a few weeks ago. Of course there was the hype and anger over the release. Not so much of it being a part 2 per say.. but the way that it happened.
One of the biggest things is that if you genuinely don’t like Overwatch 2, and think that you will just go back and play Overwatch 1… Nope. That ain’t happening.
They completely removed 1 and replaced it with 2. And that went over about as good as you think it would have. They say it’s gone, but that’s what they said about Warcraft classic.
Your data from Overwatch 1 got moved over. (at least I think it did. I never really went and checked). Besides just being a part 2, Overwatch 2 brought some seriously major changes.
It became a Free to Play game. That alone sent up a warning flare. Now things are going to locked behind a credit card, instead of hard and consistent playing. Maybe not all things, but the cool things sure as hell will.

Then there is the whole bit about needing a cell phone to be able to play. Now this part was a WTF moment for nearly everyone. It was one of those “be careful what you wish for” things.
Overwatch was known for a few things. Fast play style, and people bitching, and harassing other players. Requiring a phone was supposedly going to help Blizzard have some recourse on those disruptive players.
The phone requirement was bad enough,, but it required specific carriers. That, I think, is what put people over the edge.
But calm down, the players, or “no longer able to play, players” backlash was so strong that Blizzard removed the cell phone requirement within a couple of days. It was probably not an exaggeration to say that the entire franchise probably could have collapsed if they did not change this.
Then we get to launch day. But before we get into that, let’s go back a few years to a normal Blizzard game launch.
Remember how fun those were? The smooth openings and all the joyous, well behaved players gathered together for the excitement!
Ya.. no. This launch was the same as any other game launch. Chaos, massive queues, shit not working. Ahhhh the good old days!
Except this is not the early 2000’s any more. This is 2022 where nearly the entire gamer population is or acts like they are 6 years old. Can’t get a grip or understand what or why its happening like this.
I of course waited a week for the fury to subside before trying to get in. But even then, the first couple of times I tried to get in I was met with 2000 player queues.
Ah well I’ll try tomorrow. And Boop! right in there.
Everything looks good. new things on the menu to try,, but that stuff can wait. Lets get into some games.
Once in, the match queues are super fast. the player base that I’ve personally seen me played with seem rational enough. Games were smooth. The couple of new maps that weren’t I got into were pretty thought out and fun.
I am having a great time so far. Mom complaints on the things I’ve seen.

I haven’t had any problems in game with performance or paid things getting in my way,, but I haven’t really looked that hard.
There was a popup asking me to merge my accounts,, but it was showing my PS4 account. Since I’m on PC i wasnt sure what I was supposed to do yet,, so I just left it for now,, but that will be my next objective.
Not sure if the battlepasses are free, but I clicked in on this one and seem to be getting rep for it, but will also be looking at that.
Over all, I wasnt sure what to be expecting with Overwath 2, but so far I have no complaints.
if you were also waiting for things to settle down, I think its there now. go give it a shot.
