What a difference…

What a difference a week or two makes in a show. Especially a show that has been straddling the line between being juuust enough of ok, and just plain crap.

It’s hard to figure out who there is more of. The watchers of the show who have little to no knowledge of this era of Middle Earth, and those who can recite passages in their sleep.
But really,, The parts that are failing this show, don’t really have much to do with how much you may or may not know about the lore.
For the most part, up until now things were on the OK side of the line. But you really needed to have an open mind about how the show was using that lore. Lore that has been spread across thousands of years, but needing to be compressed down to a few hours.
I mean you really do need to make some concessions with that here. At least with the approach they took, or had to take.
There are a few small things story wise or writing wise that are off putting, Like why do the Harfoots need to migrate? They don’t say. They have everything they need. It feels like they just needed a way to kill some off in order to make a plot point.
And ok,, lets say they do tell us why? Why then did they make a big tadoo of “leave no one behind” and then proceed to want to leave the unfortunates behind?
Ok nevermind these little things (but they are adding up so I reserve the right to re-examine)..
But until last episode, what started out as a character who was a bit… objectionable, has crossed over to the “I cannot stand” side of things. Who in the hell is writing the script for Galadriel?

Why is someone who they initial pushed as the ultimate warrior type, now teaching Swan Lake to the Fighters?
During this scene alone, I could seriously hear 10k remotes furiously clicking the Home button to GTFO of this show. It took every bit of strength that I had to NOT quit this show right then and there.

There is nothing remotely likable about her character or how she is being portrayed. I understand that if she is written that way, thats one thing. But the actress playing her is definitely not doing her any favors.
I know they are building, and setting up for a big reveal of Sauron.. but they are pushing the mystery a bit hard. It’s starting to effect the story they they are trying to show us.
For the people who don’t have any insight of who or how or why Sauron is Sauron.. waiting too long to reveal him will most likely feel like a cop-out for poor story points that are being stretched out.
So. At the beginning of this series things were a bit wonky but had at least a promise or means to pull it together. Now it’s getting more than wonky and heading south. The bad writing or bad lore interpretation/creation is starting to cascade in on its self and is prepping for all out implosion.
Things feel like they are converging to the end of this season. And that might be a good thing.
Yes I keep watching. Something thing has to give, and I wanna be there for it. Good or bad.
