The Case of Charles Dexter Ward Podcast

I ran across this particular podcast,, on a BBC Radio4 series. The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, Based on book by HP Lovecraft of the same name.

While the original story was set in the early 1920s, this podcast audio drama is set in more modern times.

Was not sure what to expect, because Lovecraft content is not one of my big genres, and Ive never read this particular story.
Being of course a horror story,, it is a slow burn and maybe more of a mystery story.
Following a reporter/detective while they are investigating the dissapearance of Charles Ward.
The first, I’d say, 4-5 episodes are very gripping. I couldnt shut it off. The plot, the voice acting the ambiance all played together and just held your attention.
I couldnt wait to get to the next episode.
I finally got to the last episode. And like any other podcast or tv show,, if its good, I sorta put off the final episode for a bit in order to kinda build it up for that last hurrah.
But when I finally played the last episode, everything just kinda fell apart. I dont want to give that many spoilers, but… really? Since I never read the original,, or much of any Lovecraft.. I don’t know if this is the normal here or how true to the source material this podcast is.
In a bit a of a fix here. I would surely say the first 2/3 of this Podcast series is great.. but the last.. no.
I guess if this is how Lovecraft’s works usually go then this is on the mark.. I guess that will be up to you.
