Andor was one of those Star Wars shows that I was really waiting for,, but also not sure how it was going to go over. I mean I personally thought Rogue One was great. Thought Solo was great as well. But I also know that both of these have mixed reviews in the Star Wars fandom.
The grittier, backwater placement never seemed to ring right with a lot of people,, even though that kind of setting is in every bit of content.
Could it be the always uptight Empire presence? Are there really enough storm troopers to blanket the entire rim for any little skirmish? Not having any around here really sets a different, and even a more dangerous tone.
Or maybe it’s the lack of anything Skywalker. Seems to be a bit of Skywalker anger lately. But the mood here,,, while kinda bleak, it’s much better over all.
As usual,, spoilers may be here,, but I usually keep it general and vague.
We are following Cassian Andor mostly on the planet Ferrix. Possibly on a more “Innocent” endeavor, but one that quickly goes to crap. But also been flashing back to his younger days on planet Kenari.
It appears that we have a setup for Cassian’s ultimate motives playing along side the current state of affairs plot. I say it “appears” because that seems like something too straight forward for a 12 episode season.
I first thought that we were seeing a set up for his betrayal,, but they managed to pull that off pretty quickly,, but not saying there won’t be more of that.
The Kenari plot line will most definitely catch up to the Ferrix line at some point and we will surely get more insight on his “sisters” where abouts. Which will probably answer somethings we have yet to see.
Already good character progression, foreshadowing, and getting us to attach to main characters. They even got us hating a guy who in any other story would probably be the good guy!
So far Andor has it all. Great story, great acting, and a droid.
At first I was excited for a 3 episode drop. But it felt more like a pilot that they chopped into 3 pieces. They really have the pacing down between all the little plots, and keep everything moving along quickly, but also steadily.
I already can’t wait for the next episode but please make them a bit longer.
