I am starting to be able to whittle down on shows that I have started but never finished. I nearly forgot about Masters of the Universe: Revelation part 2. (the part 1 review is here) Omg, I’m so glad I went back
My last posting about Revelations was after the shock of the first episode. That shock turned into many things. But by the time part 1 was over… I was completely onboard.
This show has gotten (at first) some very bad press. But I think it took a bit, like it did for me, for things to come into focus. While yes He-man was in it, he certainly was not the direct focus. And I think that was a major issue for the haters.
Since its a continuation of the original series, things did have to speed along for everything to happen in 10 episodes. After episode one, there was every indication that things were going to explode off the rails and rip another memory to shreds. But I was gladly wrong.
The journey across Eternia, Subternia and Preternia is nothing short of amazing. It feels like every character we ever knew gets a relevant part without being reduced to fan service. Everything and everyone counts. Every scene, every death, every thought, every choice matters.
Masters of the Universe: Revelations should be on everyones must see list. Even if you never watched the original series, I’m quite sure you will know just enough to jump on board and be drawn in. These 10 episodes are now one of my favorite runs of any series, animated or not.
