Moving on..

My gaming time and preference has taken a big shift over the last 4-5 months. Have broken away from the Warcraft loop. Before all the Blizzard stuff came out. Getting out was a long time coming that’s for sure.

It really has not been fun playing WoW for a while now. I’m talking years. But you get caught up in feeling like something is gonna change so you stick around. But nothing does. And the next thing you know, you realize you’re playing out of habit rather than for fun.

The overall story is no longer interesting. The way the things like Torgast and Mythics work is just rediculous. If you are not an everyday all day player, you very quickly fall behind with almost no chance of being able to catch up and not able to participate in most content because no group is gonna take someone who has any chance of slowing them down.

This is the way Wow has felt for me for probably the last 4 expansions. I don’t think I’d call my self a casual, but it’s almost what you are relegated to if you are not staying with the pack.

You miss your daily or weekly farming of the current currency one time, and you might as well hang up your cloak because you are now almost for sure sidelined.

There is no other options. Either you are full bore, no life, all the time in the world… or you are hopelessly on the outside looking in.

That’s not how games should be.

So I have moved back to Elder Scrolls Online again. I say again because I drift over here every so often when I just couldn’t take the WoW monotony any longer.

And every time I’m come back, I wonder why I ever crawled back to WoW.

Everything about ESO is so much better than Warcraft.. for me.

The over all story arc is functionally better. The lore is leaps and bounds more in depth and in volume.

Questing is nearly never ending and so much more varied.

Crafting and all other professions actually mean something here.

The entire game seamlessly scales to you, so you can do any content at any level with the same experiences as any other player.

Visually much much much more immersive. The ambiance,

the voice acting,

the reward systems,

the character building….the perks just never end.

I would like to see how the WoW story actually plays out and finishes. But unless something drastically, and I means drastically, changes in the gameplay and mechanics and with the over all experience over there.. I really do not see any reason for me to go back.

I literally have been playing WoW for around 12 years and have absolutely nothing vested in game to compel me to come back.

Over here at ESO I already have so much gear and resources collected that I can reconstruct or craft almost anything needed for any level characters I ever make.

Nothing you do or collect is wasted. It all builds your legacy and is here waiting for when you need it.

Wasn’t expecting this to turn into a commercial for ESO, and have more gaming things I have rediscovered since moving on from WoW. So I guess this mighy be a new series here on Timelapsed.

Stay tuned
