Old Ruins. Same lines

S4E2 Jetsam
In true Expanse style, episode 2, “Jetsam” brings us multiple plot lines. And I’m talkin’ like 5 maybe 6 seperate things to follow.
But you can see how they are all tied together, or at least why this thing here matters way over there
This episode starts out really trying to flesh out Bobby Draiper and appears they are trying to position her into a more prominent role. But it kinda slowed everything down.
A good chunk of time was spent on her, but I’m not really sure what to make of the direction that the sub-plot with her kid is going to go. While she did get some action, it almost felt like this part of the show was put in only to pan to a whole other audience type.
Up on the “New Terra” planet Ilus, all kinds of things are happening all at once. Miller is seeing Proto Molecule images, the Rocinante crew splits up to investigate both the recent attack on the colony and the shuttle crash.
Both events have tensions rising and old lines being drawn. The Belters and Inners are already leary of each other.
When Amos discovers that there was sabotage involved in the crash and that evidence shows mining eq was used.. Murtry (Inner) sets things off by blaming the mining Belters
After some threats, Murtry shoots one of the Belters. probably setting of a wave of violence.
Miller, Holden and Alex investigate the ancient pre native lifeform ruins where they figure the latest attack came from and where Miller sees Proto Molecule signs. Holden frees a section of machinery that was stuck and sets off movement in the structure and a massive lightning storm across the planet.
Back at the rings gates,, Drummer, Ashford and the OPA are trying to keep some sort of order. Ships are waiting to escape into the new territory, but are easy pickin’s for the pirates.
After an Earth ship is destroyed, they start an investigation, and discover it was most likely a well known Belter. Looking for help, they even try Fred Johnson.
Whew. I was worried that because the whole season dropped at once that I would binge watch it and rush through it. But with all of this going on, I really need to take that break in between and chew on all these plotlines.
I like how everything feels like everyone is dealing with some part of the same problem but in different locations, but as much as I wanna see more of Bobby, her rough times story is the only weak point so far. But Avaserala is making a play to get her, so it probably wont be long and we will see some progress with both of them.
