I want to get back into doing a few game reviews like I used to do. Quite a few things have changed since last time I did any serious console gaming. That sounds like long ago, but its not really. The last console game that I took even half way serious playing was about 4 years ago… Witcher 3 on the PS4.

But since then, I’ve mostly moved to the Xbox One. And even I was surprised by that move. But just havent been into console as much. I’m trying to get back, but back to my greatest time of gaming,, the portables.. The Handhelds.

Sure I still had the PS2s and 3s, Gamecubes and what have you,, but that era was all about the Nintendo Gameboys, Gameboy Advances, SP, DS, 3DS, Game Gear, PsP. Anywhere I went, you’re damn sure I had something to play.

I’ve sooorta taken a step back from the handhelds,, mainly because it didn’t seem like companies were serious in providing quality games. Sure Nintendo hung in there,, but unless you were into the JRPG genre, fully fleshed games were few and far between.

Then came the “Mobile” platform. Phones and tablets. For a brief moment I loved it! I always had a phone on me anyway,, so yea! Except the games sucked. Phones just didn’t have enough power under the hood for the bigger games gamers were looking for.
Little games like Cut the Rope, and Angry Birds are great time wasters, but gamers want games they can put themselves into for the long haul.

Well its 2019 and things seem to be moving in the right direction for both Mobile and Handheld gaming. The Switch and Switch Lite are pulling people back to Handheld platform and Phones now days are finally powerful to play some of the top titles in all video games.

And since once again the majority of my gaming time is away from the comfort of home, I’m looking more and more at the portables.

I am waiting on the Switch Lite. 
This aggros quite a few people already just mentioning it. Get the Full Switch,, don’t get the Lite.. You cant play docked or throw to a monitor.. 

I don’t need to do any of that. And don’t see when I would ever have to. I really don’t. If I am home, I’m on Warcraft (maybe Borderlands 3 too.. Shhhh!) Nintendo is constantly pummeling me with new things coming for Switch and its Online service. And I’m really looking forward to it.
Even the video game podcasts are allotting more and more time to Switch related stuff. I gotta get in now!

On the Mobile side of things, I have been really looking for some good titles. But they are quite hidden between piles of pure crap. This is the heart of the in app payment hell. I don’t actually mind dishing out a few bucks if the game actually worth it.

The games over here are flash in the pans. Popular for a day, then everyone moves on to the next greatest thing. It’s hard to get a good review or a idea of a game when some one decides after 25 seconds the game sucks and gives bad scores with out a thought.

Somewhere out there there has to be a good game again.
